Echoes of the Past: Ancestral Healing & Unveiling Ancestral Gifts “We are our ancestors' greatest dream” Many of us living in the modern world are cut off from our cultural heritage and ancestral traditions. We hardly know any stories of our grandparents, much fewer great-grandparents. So how do you heal ancestral legacies and stories if you don’t even know what you’re carrying? Part 1| Healing my Family Karmic Cycles When we heal ourselves, we are healing past generations and healing future generations. Most of the painful patterns we are carrying and experiencing in our now are often not ours but our ancestors’ pain that they could not or have not healed. We will go through our Epigenetics – the study of changes in organisms caused by modification of gene expression. In other words, Epigenetics is about how genes are expressed and used. It is fascinating as it shows how we can carry trauma (and resilience) from experiences that our ancestors carried that we have never even experienced ourselves. When we heal or transform, we are helping our whole family line frontwards and backward. Part 2| Honoring Ancestral Gifts Healing cannot happen on just a mental level. Our body contains so much wisdom. Connecting to our ancestral traditions and practices and learning the stories/myths of our cultures also is deeply nourishing. Finding what legacies want to be lifted up and celebrated is important in addition to working on healing those legacies that might be painful. “We can heal 7 generations before us and 7 generations after us.” We are so privileged to be alive at this great turning when we can be the change that our families have been dreaming of.
